Dr Anil Kumar is working as Assistant Professor of Sociology in the Department of Law at School of Legal Studies, Central University of Kashmir. His research and teaching interests include social theory, social philosophy, gender and sexuality studies. Before joining the CUK faculty in 2012, he was working as Assistant Professor of Sociology at Department of Higher Education, Government of Jammu and Kashmir. Previously, he worked as Assistant Professor of Sociology at Miranda House, University of Delhi and also remained UGC Research Fellow in Sociology at Centre for Philosophy, School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He completed BA in Social Sciences (History, Political Science and Sociology) in 2004 and MA in Sociology in 2006 at University of Jammu, MPhil in 2008 and PhD in 2018 from School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi with a qualification of UGC National Eligibility Test for Lectureship and Junior Research Fellowship in Sociology and Women Studies. Also, he has completed an MA in Philosophy and Religion from Madurai Kamaraj University and qualified UGC National Eligibility Test for Assistant Professor in Philosophy and Comparative Study of Religions. Beside academic job, Dr Kumar has also got a flair for writing poetry, songs and articles in Dogri, Hindi and English languages. He has published scholarly work in journals along with participation in numerous national and international conferences and made presentations in the areas of his interest and specialisation. His recent publication is an edited volume Women, Gender and Justice: Issues and Perspectives (2019) from Pragati Publications, New Delhi.
