About the Committee
Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) is a body constituted by the Central University of Kashmir in 2014 following the guidelines on prevention and deterrence of sexual harassment at workplace as laid down by the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013. The committee was first headed by Ms. Gulafroz Jan, Assistant Professor, Department of Law, CUK. Presently, the committee is headed by Prof. Nighat Basu, School of Education, CUK.
Internal Complaints Committee shall implement the zero tolerance policy of the University against sexual harassment in the institution to provide a safe environment to its employees and students/scholars to work in.The committee regularly organises sensitisation programmes like seminars, workshops, debates etc. to create and maintain an environment in the university that is gender sensitive and free from harassment.
The committee recognizes the right of every employee, scholar and student in the university to a safe and secure workplace environment irrespective of their age or employment/work status. Hence, all employees working in the university, whether in the capacity of regular, temporary, ad hoc, or daily wages basis, scholars and students can make a complaint to the committee.
