About the Section
The Directorate of Research & Development at the Central University of Kashmir was created in December 2015, with Professor Mohammad Aslam, Dean, School of Languages, as its first Director, to monitor and streamline the research and developmental activities at the University. Research activities had started at the University in 2012 with just a few scholars admitted to the Intergrated MPhil-PhD programmes in English and Management Studies Departments. However, within three years and with the opening of new Departments of Law, Tourism, Education, Mathematics and Economics, the number of scholars increased significantly, making it necessary to facilitate an easy and hassle-free research atmosphere in the University. Since December, therefore, all research activities have been taken care of by the Directorate. Not only that, the University took a unique initiative of providing Minor Research Projects to its regular faculty who work independently for 6 or 9 months, produce an adequately documented report that is evaluated by a committee before it is uploaded on the University website. The Directorate also regulates post-doctoral and UGC fellowships and keeps the faculty informed about various research programmes offered by different agencies across the globe.
