The Department of Students Welfare was established in the year 2014 with the following structure:

Department of Students Welfare
The Department of Students Welfare was established in the year 2014 with the following structure:
- Dean Students Welfare controlling officer.
- Coordinator Cultural Activities.
- Coordinator Sports Activities.
- Coordinator Extension Activities.
- Coordinator Innovations.
- Coordinator for promoting Good Citizenship.
Prior to establishment of the Department of Students Welfare, all student welfare related activities were being looked after by the Students Welfare Officer of the University. Sensing the multi-tasking role in respect of students welfare activities, the University created a formal structure of Department of Students Welfare. As per the established organisational structure, at Present Prof. Mehraj Ud Din Shah is the Dean, Department of Students Welfare (DSW). The Department is also staffed with four (04) Deputy DSW’s for four different campuses of the University namely Dr. Asif Khan, Dr. Ishrat Bashir, Dr. Faizan Ashraf Mir, Dr. Mohammad Lateef Khaliq. These Deputy DSW’s coordinate in organising various activities of DSW. The Dean Students Welfare also look after various sports activities of the University and Dr. Mohammad Muzamil Shah, Sports Coordinator works under his supervision to promote sports activities in the University. Moreover, the department of Students Welfare has the mandate to promote all round development of the student by holding varied student centric activities specifically which lead to remarkable improvement in the student outlook, attitude and personality. The activities include social cultural, sports etc besides promotion of good citizenship, innovation, nationhood. Moreover, the department also conducts programmes, guest lectures, panel discussions on the burning issues of society to enlighten students about their implications. In this regard, the department has conducted the following activities.
1. Debating and other competitions.
2. Cultural Activities.
3. Blood donation and Health awareness camps.
4. Celebrating of National and International Days.
5. Sports Events.
6. Social Service Camps.
7. Personality Development Programmes.
8. Plantation Drives.
9. Organising Special lectures by people of eminence.
10. Holding of Students related festivals.
11. Sensitisation programmes on issue like Good Governance, State and Centrally sponsored schemes, RTI, Digital economy etc,.
12. Coaching programmes for preparing for competitive examinations.
Department of Students Welfare has entered into MoU’s with a number of organisations to help overall personality development of students. One such arrangement is the outcome of an imitative of Manford Foundation USA entered through JK Help Foundation and some workshops have been organised for the students of different batches. Besides, six sigma workshop was organised for the students of Management through world famous training providers KPMG. In addition, some short term training programmes were organised on Digital Marketing.
The objective of the Department of Students Welfare is to expose the students to an environment where they can demonstrate their patent and latent capabilities and awaken their inner self to make them good citizens. The department has organised various programmes and deputed students for participations in various national and local events organised at Central University of Jarkhand, BBA University Lucknow, Shardha University Greater Noida, PCTE Ludhiana, MIT Pune and Swami Vivekananda Anusandhan Banglore, Central University of Tamil Nadu and Allagapa University, Tamil Nadu etc., to expose them to the external environment and horn their capabilities for proper growth. Te students also deputed to local Universities including Islamic University of Science and Technology, University of Kashmir , Katra University and University of Jammu.
The Department is conscious of the Physical Development of the students and needed efforts are continuously made to involve the students in the sports and physical fitness activities. The department is also on the way to establish a gymnasium in the University and create the indoor sports facilities for the students and time to time the department is also organising Inter Departmental Cricket Tournament. Besides, the Students of University have participated in the Woodball tournament during during 3rd - 7th- 2020 at Chandigarh University organized by All India Inter University Woodball Tournament and in which one student namely Zubair Rashid, Department of Politics & Governance, CUK, won the bronze medal. The Department of Students Welfare in collaboration with the Physical Education Department, CUK is conducting Cosco Tournament w.e.f. 05th April 2022 at Tulmullah Campus.
The Department is facilitating issuance of Student Identity Cards on fast track basis and arrangement of transport on identified routs. The Department is also ensuring better health facilities to the students on the campus to meet the exigencies. For this purpose the CUK-Health Centre has been established and the University owned ambulance facility is used to ferry the patients on 24x7 basis. The University Health Centre has conducted Covid-19 Tests and administered Covid-19 vaccines to the students and employees during the pandemic.
In order to help in the democratic functioning of the University, the Department is discharging a very important role by involving students in the decisions making process through convening of Meting of students council, meeting of the Class Representatives, Research Scholars and the members of University Alumni Association.
