World Environment Day

An exclusive webinar was organized by the Department of Kashmiri in collaboration with Dean Students Welfare (DSW) Central University of Kashmir, Ganderbal, on World Environment Day, 5th of June 2021 at 2:00 pm, titled “Quran and Environment”. The webinar was presided over by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Central University of Kashmir Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir Sahab. The session was attended by a galaxy of distinguished guests from various quarters. The webinar aimed to put forward the Quranic perspective regarding the environment, its conservation and protection. The webinar started with reciting of few verses from Holy Quran by Tabia Hameed followed by a beautiful poem written by one of the students of the Department of Kashmiri, Central University of Kashmir, Ganderbal, Shoqia Jan. Afterwards, Dean Student’s Welfare Dr Mehraj ud Din Shah formally welcomed all the guests by presenting welcome address. The session went on to be more informative as Dr Nazir Ahmed Zargar Assistant Professor of Religious Studies gave an insightful speech on the Quran and environment. Before the start of the Keynote Address, Assistant Professor Department of Kashmiri Dr Ali Muhammad Dar gave a brief introduction of guest of honor and the lead speaker Prof. Muhammad Aslam Parvaiz former HVC MANUU Hyderabad, Director Islamic Foundation of Science & Environment and Editor monthly “Urdu Science”, New Delhi. Well ahead of introduction; Prof. Muhammad Aslam Parvaiz former HVC MANUU Hyderabad delivered valuable inputs about the environment in the light of the Quran with the help of PPPT. He further threw light on the fact that the Quran emphasizes maintaining ecological balance and discourages any kind of activity that can destroy the environment. On the other hand, Prof Muhammad Afzal Zargar Registrar of the Central University of Kashmir accentuated all the educational institutions and universities contribute towards environmental conservation and protection, He presented some verses from the Qur'an that shows how to save the environment. The chief patron and the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Kashmir hove light on the fact that a deep understanding of the Quran can lead us to a better and sustainable future. In this regard, he highlighted the importance of oxygen in the pandemic, divinely describe his experiences, how he benefited from the surrounding environment. Finally, the Coordinator Department of Kashmiri Dr Irfan Aalam expressed his gratitude towards guests and organizers’ for their constant support and encouragement. He further thanked them to attend and organize such enriching sessions. The webinar wrapped up around 4:30 pm and was moderated by Dr Samreen Geelani Assistant Professor Department of Kashmiri, Central University of Kashmir, Ganderbal.
