CUK’s Tourism Deptt holds ‘Milchaar’
 
 
Srinagar, Oct 30: The Department of Tourism Studies, Central University of Kashmir (CUK) organised a function ‘Milchaar’–a fresher cum farewell event.

CUK Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdul Wahid, was the Chief Guest while as Registrar, Prof Muhammad Afzal Zargar, was guest of honour on the occasion.

Addressing students, Prof. Abdul Wahid, highlighted the tourism potential of the State and underscored the need to develop infrastructure at the newly identified tourist destinations across the State. He said that the Jammu and Kashmir had numerous tourist places to woo, both the domestic and international tourists.

Registrar CUK, Prof Muhammad Afzal Zargar said the Tourism industry in Jammu and Kashmir is providing jobs to thousands of people and has further scope of generating huge employment in the State.

Dean, School of Business Studies, Prof. Abdul Gani, in his address welcomed the fresher of the Tourism Department and also bid farewell to the outgoing students. “Tourism is a key contributor to our economy, not only at national level, but also in Jammu and Kashmir,” said Prof Abdul Gani. He expressed happiness over the functioning of the Department of Tourism Studies.

Former Head, Department of Tourism studies, Dr Farooq Ahmad Shah, also shared his views with the students and welcomed Prof. Syed Fayyaz Ahmad as new Head of the Department.

Prof. S Fayyaz Ahmed who also spoke on the occasion committed to make the department as one of the best departments of Tourism studies at regional and National level.

Mr Faizan Ashraf Mir, faculty member of Tourism Studies Department, presented the vote of thanks. Other guests present were, Dean, School of Legal studies, Prof. Mehraj-ud-Din, Dean Economics, Prof. G.M Bhat, Dean Education, Prof N.A Nadeem, Coordinator, Department of Mathematics, Dr. Aftab Hussain.
