Students prime stakeholders for CUK dev: Prof. Mehraj ud Din
Deptts of Urdu, Comparative religion, DSW felicitate VC
Srinagar, Oct 29: The departments of Urdu, Comparative Religion and the Directorate of Students Welfare (DSW) today felicitated Prof. Mehraj ud Din for being officially appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Kashmir (CUK).

The department of Urdu, Comparative Religion and DSW organised two separate functions at Nowgam II and I academics blocks to felicitate the Vice-Chancellor.

Addressing the scholars, students and members of the Cultural Club during these functions, Prof. Mehraj ud Din said the students have to play a crucial and important role in the overall development of the CUK. “You have to fully involve yourself and remain proactive in different capacities, i.e from being a student to alumni and after achieving success in the respective professional fields, for making the varsity a centre par excellence,” he said and solicited full support and cooperation the students in this regard. He asked the scholars and students to highlight the difficulties faced by them to ensure a speedy response. VC said, the University administration was trying hard to provide all the basic facilities to the students and faculty.  

Registrar, Prof. Muhammad Afzal Zargar, Urdu Department Coordinator, Prof. N A Malik, Department of Political Science Coordinator, Prof. N A Baba, Director DSW, Dr. Fayaz A Nikka, In charge Librarian, Mr. Riyaz Rufaie, and other faculty members were also present on these occasions.

Prof. Mehraj ud Din hailed the students of Economics for their active participation in conducting the recently concluded ISLE seminar and also appreciated the students for their exemplary performances during different University events. He asked all the students to study hard and with full dedication to achieve their goal in life. CUK VC also said the admission to the research programme in Urdu department would be explored soon.

Registrar, Prof. Muhammad Afzal Zargar, while felicitating the Vice-Chancellor, enumerated the steps taken by Prof. Mehraj ud Din while assuming the office as the In Charge VC. He said that despite several constraints, Prof. Mehraj ud Din took several measures for the betterment of the institution. He said that the whole family of the CUK under the leadership of visionary VC has a challenge ahead to realize the dream of having an institution par excellence and also start active construction process at the designated campus at Ganderbal. Prof. Zargar said that after being officially appointed as the CUK VC, Prof. Mehraj ud Din is making every effort to provide all the facilities to the students, scholars and faculty members.

Urdu Department Coordinator, Prof. N A Malik, Department of Political Science Coordinator, Prof. N A Baba, Director DSW, Dr. Fayaz A Nikka, also spoke on these occasions and highlighted the contributions made by Prof. Mehraj ud Din during his tenures in different capacities at University of Kashmir and after assuming the charge as I/c Vice-Chancellor of CUK. They also felicitated Prof. Mehraj ud Din with the mementos.
