CUK holds quiz, poster competition
Srinagar, July 4: In connection with the Digital India Week celebrations in the Central University of Kashmir (CUK), the varsity’s Department of IT organised a quiz competition at two schools in Ganderbal district and also in coordination with the Directorate of Students Welfare (DSW) held a poster competition at Sonwar transit campus.
The department held the quiz ccompetition on “Digital India Initiative and IT Awareness” at Government Girls and Boys High School Tulmulla. At the Government Girls High School Tulmulla, the Team 1 comprising Ms.Yasmeen Gul, Ms. Shazia Ayaz and Ms. Iqra Bashir was adjudged as the winner while as at Government Boys High School Tulmulla, Team 2 comprising Mr. Sahil, Mr. Abdul Basit and Mr. Muhammad Saleem bagged the top slot.

Dean School of Education, Prof. N A Nadeem, IT Deptt Coordinator, Prof. A. M. Wani, Assistant Professors, Mr. Zahoor Ahmad Najar, Mr. Nasrullah, Dr. Sajid Yousuf, Dr. Bilal and school headmasters, Mr. Mohammad Yasin and Mr Muhammad Maqbool were present on the occasion. Asst Prof. Department of IT, Afaq Alam Khan conducted the quiz in both the educational institutions. Student volunteers, Hanna Mushtaq, Afreen, Iqra, Nausheen, Umer, Nayeem of the Department of IT and Danish of the Department of Convergent Journalism were present on both the occasions.
Meanwhile, several students participated in the poster competition held at Sonwar. Officiating Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj udDin, Registrar, Prof. Muhammad Afzal Zargar, Directorate of Students Welfare, Dr. Fayaz A Nikka, Cultural Coordinator, Dr. Ihsan Malik, Mr. Naushad Gayoor, Dr. John Babu, Mr. Zahoor Ahmad Najar, Mr. Sheikh Nasrullah, Mr. Afaq Alam Khan watched all these posters.
Officiating Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj udDin and Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, appreciated the students for displaying their talents through these posters. “The participants have been able to do justice with the theme and have done a commendable job,” they said. They said the University was making every effort to provide all the facilities to the students despite several constraints.
DSW Director, Dr. Fayaz A Nikka and Cultural Coordinator, Dr. Ihsan Malik also spoke on the occasion.
