Srinagar, Dec 13: Noted advocate, Mr. Zaffar Shah today said that Human Rights can’t be realized unless those who are entitled to these have a passion and determination to realize these.
“Those who aspire to have human rights must be ready to strive for them,” he said while addressing a function organized by the School of Legal Studies, Central University of Kashmir in connection with Human Rights Day at its Nowgam Academic block.
“Those who have contributed to human rights movements across the globe suffered immensely as the states are not ready to concede these rights easily,” he said.
Mr. Shah stressed upon the fact that those who have rights should not be ready to compromise these. “If they compromise they don’t deserve to be categorized within the human species.”
Citing examples of Martin Luthur King, he impressed upon the students that unless they have commitment and passion to the cause of human rights, they can’t expect the states to deliver these as no rights are granted on a plate to anyone unless he strives and struggles for these.
