V-C, Registrar interacts with CRs, scholars and cultural club members
Srinagar, Sept 22: Central University of Kashmir (CUK) officiating Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din today said the university is extending fellowship to all the research scholars as per the norms set by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
“The fellowship would be provided to the scholars from next month with the rider that they have to remain punctual and maintain attendance,” Prof. Mehraj ud Din said while addressing a meeting of all the research scholars, Class Representatives (CRs) and Members of newly formed University cultural and Literary club at Nowgam Campus-1.
Prof. Mehraj ud Din also announced a grant of Rs. 20,000 to the newly formed University Cultural and Literary club for holding programmes.
After listening to the grievances of research scholars and CRs regarding transport facilities, hostel accommodation, canteen, issuance of more books from the library and procurement of journals, Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, assured them that all their genuine, issues and demands would be resolved in a time bound manner. He said that despite operational difficulties, the students of the varsity were performing extraordinarily in the academic and cultural activities and were coming out with flying colors.
Controller of Examinations/I/c Finance Officer, Dr. Nazir Ahmad Gilkar, while speaking on the occasion asked the students to study tirelessly and give their best in examinations.
Director Students Welfare, Dr. Fayaz A Nikka, Chief Warden and Proctor, Dr. Farooq Ahmad, Boys Hostel Warden, Coordinator, Department of Journalism, Mr. Asif Khan, Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad, Girls Hostel Warden, Ms Sakina Akhter, Cultural Coordinator, Dr. Ihsan Malik were among others present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the department of Management Studies, organised a donation programme “Ehsaas” to collect money and subsequently distribute it to the orphanages of the valley. The department students have set up a collection centre inside the campus where faculty and students of other departments donated money, clothes and other important items.
