CUK holds extension lectures
Srinagar, July 7: In connection with Digital India Week, the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) organized a series of lectures by Information Technology (IT) experts for the students and the administrative staff of the varsity.
On July 6, Asst Prof. Department of IT CUK, Mr. Zahoor Ahmad Najar gave a detailed presentation about National Knowledge Network (NKN) to the administrative staff and students. Mr. Zahoor discussed at length about NKN services and applications and familiarized the participants about the usage of the Network.
Controller of Examination, Dr. Nazir Ahmad Gilkar and Department of IT Coordinator, Prof. A M Wani appreciated the presentation made by Mr. Zahoor. Later a question answer session was also held.

On the same day, Prof. Roohi Naaz from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar also delivered a lecture on “NME-ICT and advances and research avenues in computer architecture.”
On July 7, Additional State Informatics Officer, NIC, J&K, Mr. Saleem Khan, delivered a lecture to the students and discussed various e-governance projects and activities in J&K. Mr. Khan provided useful advice to the students regarding the scope for IT based entrepreneurship in the state.
State e-governance Mission Team (SeMT), IT Head Mr. Shafqat Bashir during his lecture discussed carrier opportunities for the IT students. He elaborated on various missions and themes of Digital India Week.
The students also interacted with the officers of IT Department, J&K and DeiTy, Government of India. Dr. R. Pitchiah, Scientist, Department of Electronics & Information Technology, (DEITy), Government of India along with officers of Department of IT including Mr. M. Shafi Dar, Deputy Secretary, Mr. M. Akbar Wani CEO, JAKEGA, and Mr. Munish Chandan, Sr. Consultant had an interaction with the students and faculty of Department of IT. They also visited the posters exhibition related to digital India Week organized by Central University of Kashmir.
