Ensure quality in research work: CUK V-C to scholars
Srinagar, July 23: Central University of Kashmir (CUK) officiating Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj udDin, today asked the research scholars to produce quality research work.
“The research should be outstanding and then subsequently beneficial for the society. It should make significant contribution to the basic purpose of higher education, which is to conduct research on diverse topics,” Prof. Mehraj udDin said while interacting with the research scholars of the university at Nowgam Academic block.
Prof. Mehraj udDin asked the researchers to work in the fields or areas that contribute to the nation in general and State of Jammu and Kashmir in particular. The constraints should not deter them to pursue and complete the research on time, he said.
The University would support and provide assistance to the scholars intending to participate in the seminars/workshops or any event relevant to their field of study, he added.
CUK officiating VC also asked the scholars to compete in various national level examinations and seek fellowships and scholarships. He assured them that a state-of-the-art browsing centre is on the anvil.
He said the University was exploring the possibility of providing fellowship to all the scholars undertaking research at CUK. Prof. Mehraj udDin also said that the scholars can utilize the resources available at the Iqbal Library of the University of Kashmir as the CUK is in agreement with the varsity.
Dean School of Media Studies, Prof. S Fayyaz, Deans School of Social Sciences, Prof. G M Bhat, Dean School of Education, Prof. N A Nadeem, Head Department of Law, Prof. Sheikh Showkat and Librarian, Mr. Riyaz Rufaie also spoke on the occasion and asked the scholar to remain punctual and utilize the resources of the University. They said that the scholars are the face of the University and they should put in their best efforts to live up to the expectations. They (scholars) should also use the facilities like e-resources and best of journals subscribed by the University to the optimal level.
Later, an interaction session followed wherein the research scholars put forth their grievances.
