CUK holds 14th UBC meeting
Srinagar, Feb 20: The 14th University Building Committee (UBC) meeting of the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) was held at its Sonwar Transit campus on Thursday with officiating Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj-uddin in chair.
The meeting was attended by former Chief Engineer R&B, Mr. Muhammad Amin Nowsheri, former Chief Architect, Mr. Muneer Ahmad Khan, Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, Controller of Examinations/Finance Officer, Dr. Nazir Ahmad Gilkar, Executive Engineer (R&B) Ganderbal, Er. Sami Arif, Soil Testing Expert, Mr. Mousa (through video-conferencing), CPWD Assistant Engineer, Mr. Rakesh Sharma, representatives from NBCC and other University officials.
Prof. Mehraj-uddin while welcoming the guests sought active support and participation of the Committee members in establishing the varsity with a permanent campus. The University despite marching ahead on academic and research front does feel the absence of its own campus, said Prof. Mehraj-uddin.
Registrar, Prof. Muhammad Afzal Zargar briefed the Committee members about the present progress and pace of work since the last meeting of UBC.
The worthy members of UBC thoroughly deliberated upon the progress on the construction work at the site. The digital survey/topographical survey and soil test report, done by the CPWD were discussed in particular and technical details and ramifications were thoroughly deliberated upon. Arising out of the discussion, a sub-committee comprising solely of experts, with some nominations was constituted to come up with an expert opinion in the subject matter.
