Srinagar, May 23: A three-member delegation from Central University of Kashmir visited United Kingdom on a study programme sponsored by UK-India Education Research Initiative (UKIERI), Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and University Grants Commission (UGC) from April 24 to May 3.

The delegation comprising Assistant Registrar (Administration) Dr. Javed Wani, Coordinator Department of Convergent Journalism (School of Media Studies), Asif Khan and Assistant Professor, Department of Tourism Management, Faizan Ashraf Mir - was selected and nominated by the university and Ministry of Human Resource Development.

Sharing the experience of the visit, Dr. Wani said: “It was amazing to see how the universities in England have developed self-sustaining departments where results are given more priority rather than processes.”

Mr. Khan referred to learning outcome of the programme.  “The programme was quite enriching. It was based on personal leadership strengths and skills. It provided an insight for dealing with strategic issues in the institutions. We also learnt how to build research eco-system, international collaboration, higher education organizational structures and value chain from innovation to commercialization,” said Mr. Khan.

Another delegation member, Faizan Ashraf Mir said: “It was a wonderful experience to tour UK where we visited world-class universities like University of Coventry, University of Warwick, University of Wolverhampton and Birmingham City University.  We interacted with the respective vice-chancellors, deans and faculty.”

Appreciating the work done by the CUK team in the coveted programme, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj-ud-Din Mir said:

“They worked on a project ‘Good Governance Cell’ and presented their work during the programme in UK which was highly appreciated by the organizers and participants alike. They are also going to share their learning experiences with the university staff and faculty. We look forward to enrich from their experiences.”

Thirteen Indian universities were part of the programme based on leadership management and faculty development.

The delegation also included members from Anna University Chennai, Central University of Haryana; Goa University; Indian Institute of Management Raipur; Indian Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli; Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar; Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur; Jawaharlal Nehru Technology University of Kakinada; National Institute of Technology Calicut; National Institute of Technology Durgapur; Tezpur University and Vinoba Bhave University Hazaribag besides Central University of Kashmir.
