CUK V-C interacts with scholars, CRs
Srinagar, Sept 8: Central University of Kashmir (CUK) officiating Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj-ud-Din today held a detailed interaction with the research scholars and class representatives (CRs) of different departments at Nowgam academic block.
Prof. Mehraj-ud-Din who was flanked by Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar and DSW, Dr. Fayaz A Nikka, inquired about the problems faced by the students, scholars and hosteliers.
Addressing the scholars and CRs, Prof. Mehraj-ud-Din, said that despite functioning from rented buildings, the University was doing every bit to provide all the basic facilities to the students and research scholars. “The University is establishing smart classrooms and is setting up a browsing centre containing 100 computers at the Nowgam academic block,” Prof. Mehraj-ud-Din said adding that healthcare facilities would also be provided to the students at the designated campuses very soon. He said the University was in the process of constructing Pre Engineered Buildings (PEBs) at Ganderbal in order to shift the academic activities to the permanent campus of the varsity.
Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar said the university was marching ahead on academic front despite several constraints. “Our students are proving their mettle in and outside the State in different arenas,” he said. He asked the Class Representatives to ensure discipline in the varsity and highlight and subsequently discuss the grievances of students, if any, with the senior faculty members and officials in the administration. Prof. Zargar said that recreational facilities would be soon provided to the students in the university campuses.
DSW, Dr. Fayaz A Nikka, highlighted the role of CRs in highlighting the issues, if any, of the students, and getting their redressal through proper means.
Later, the officiating Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din, Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar and other members of the faculty joined the fresher party, organized by the seniors in Department of Management Studies to welcome the newly admitted students. The students performed skit and other cultural items, which enthralled the audience.
