CUK V-C attends Directors Conference at IITTM
Gwalior, Jan 16: Central University of Kashmir (CUK) Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir today spoke as Chief Guest during the Directors Conference organized by the reputed and premier, Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM) here.
Scores of tourism players from across India and other countries of the world participated in the Conference.
Prof. Mehraj ud Din while speaking on the occasion highlighted the importance of tourism in the country and particularly in Jammu and Kashmir. He said the tourism was one of the main thrust areas in the State of Jammu and Kashmir and lots need to be done to exploit the full potential of tourism sector. He said the Central University of Kashmir has already introduced Masters in Tourism Studies as one of the Post Graduate Programmes wherein the students are trained in the respective subject and are given an overview about the tourism potential of the State.
Prof Mehraj ud Din said the varsity would be soon organizing training and other orientation programmes for all the stakeholders of the tourism industry.
He said that he Central University of Kashmir (CUK) has already signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM), Gwalior to facilitate and boost the academic and research support to Tourism industry in the Jammu and Kashmir.
He said the purpose of the MOU is to promote mutual cooperation in educational and research activities and establish a framework for programmes of exchange and collaboration in areas of tourism for mutual benefit.
The key areas of cooperation, would be Joint Research Programme; Joint Holding of Conference/Seminar/Workshop/ Training/Symposia etc; Joint organization of conference/workshop/seminar/symposia/summer school/ training /lectures etc to improve the exchange of knowledge and experience; Faculty Exchange Programme; Student Exchange Programme; Research Scholar Exchange Programme and exchange of Knowledge Resource.
IITTM, Director, Prof. Sandeep Kulshreshtha, thanked Prof. Mehraj ud Din for attending the conference.
