CUK journalism students interact with Muzamil Jaleel
Srinagar, June 9: The students of the Department of Convergent Journalism, Central University of Kashmir (CUK) today interacted with noted journalists, Muzamil Jaleel, Associate Editor, Indian Express.
While encouraging students to have confidence in their abilities and skills, Muzamil talked about the need to restructure journalism courses in order to put more and more emphasis on practical work. “The aim of a journalism school or department should be to produce employable students,” he said.
Muzamil advised the students to nurture their sources through genuine human relationships and never compromise them under any kind of pressure. He also shared important tips on how to develop writing skills and an aptitude for the profession. He told the students that there was no alternative to reading intensively and extensively.
Muzamil also recounted his own journey in the field of journalism and related it to the difficult times in which he and his generation in Kashmir had grown up.
All the faculty members and students of both the semesters were present on the occasion.
