CUK’s Edu deptt holds seminar on Tagore
Srinagar, May 7: On the eve of the birthday of Rabindra Nath Tagore, the Department of Education, Central University of Kashmir (CUK) organised a one-day seminar at its Zainakote academic block on Wednesday.
All the faculty members of the Department of Education and students of 2nd semester and 4th semester participated in the event. The seminar started with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Sameer Ahmad, 2nd semester student, followed by welcome address by Dinesh Kumar.

Dean and Head, School of Education, Prof. N.A. Nadeem in his inaugural address highlighted the contribution of Tagore in the field of education and its relevance to modern system of Indian Education. He also threw light on the various developmental programmes and future plans of the School of Education.
Dr. Mohammad Sayeed, Rashim Wadhwah and Ismail Thamarasseri presented their papers in which they highlighted the important contributions made by Tagore in blending eastern and western philosophies.
During the seminar, it was unanimously felt that Tagore’s theory of education needs to be practised in a holistic manner in the contemporary Indian Education system. Ulfat Ali, 2nd semester student conducted the proceedings and, Khair-U-Nisa, 4th semester student, presented the vote of thanks.
