Srinagar, Dec 27: To sensitize the students about the use and benefits of digital economy, the Directorate of Students Welfare (DSW) Central University of Kashmir (CUK) today organized an orientation programme for the student volunteers from various departments of the varsity as part of Vittaya Saksharta Abhiyan (VISAKA) at Nowgam campus-I h ere.
The theme of the orientation was “A Step into the Digital Economy-Each one Teach Ten.”
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir who inaugurated the event said that in a technology savvy environment the use of plastic cards for daily transactions is a blessing to be capitalized on. He stressed upon the need to provide incentives to the students for their involvement in such campaigns and to make them real agents for social change.
The participants were also addressed by Finance Officer/Controller of Examinations, Dr. Nazir Ahmad Gilkar, who stated that a transition period from barter system is culminating into use of plastic money for which we shall have to gear-up our activities.
Earlier, while welcoming the guests and participants, the Dean Students Welfare, Dr. Fayaz Ahmad Nika underscored the need for social transformation to make the shift from cash dependent economy to less-cash economy an acceptable change.
Regional Manager State Bank of India, Mr. Mahinder Kumar Basan also spoke on the occasion and apprised the participants about the new technology oriented banking products launched to ease the way of modern living.
Mr. Shakeel Ahmad from State Bank of India conducted the orientation and made a power point presentation. Mr. Mandeep Singh from SBI also attended the programme. The proceedings of the inaugural session were conducted by Coordinator Good Citizenship DSW, Dr. Ashiq Hussain Najar.
