CUK holds 23rd UBC meeting:
Srinagar, Sept 28: The 23rd meeting of the University Building Committee (UBC) of the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) was held under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir at Nowgam-I academic block of the varsity here on Thursday.
Registrar, Prof. Fayyaz A Nika, Finance Officer, Mr. Haji Bashir Ahmad, Controller of Examinations, Prof. Parveen Pandit, Chief Architect J&K Government, Mr. V K Panth, former Registrar, CUK and Professor Biochemistry, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, representative of CE R&B, former Prof. NIT, Prof G A Wani, experts from the field and senior functionaries of the varsity were also present on the occasion.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir said the university has shifted the university secretariat to Nunar Ganderbal, besides the department of Information Technology to the designated site at Tulmulla. He said the teaching departments would be soon shifted to the designated campuses of the university at Ganderbal.
Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir said the extensive repair work on the classrooms at Green Campus and Science Campuses at Duderhama Ganderbal is in full swing and very soon some of the teaching departments would also start functioning from there only. He also expressed gratitude to the firms/companies for assisting the university through their Corporate Social Responsibility in the construction of classrooms at the Green Campus of the university.
Regarding the construction of permanent structures, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir said the Project Monitoring Unit (PMU) appointed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has given a nod for the construction of G+1 structures at the designated site for which the process has been started.
Registrar, Prof. Fayaz Ahmad Nika, while speaking on the occasion, said the university would shift all the academic activities to the designated site at Ganderbal and would provide all the basic facilities to the students and staff. He said the suggestions and advices given by the members of UBC are implemented in letter and spirit.
Several important decision regarding the ongoing construction at the designated campus were taken by the Committee. The members also appreciated the university authorities for taking proactive approach vis-à-vis the establishment of own campus at Ganderbal.
