Prof. Mir said the university is on the top as far as academic is concerned when compared with other 14 universities established with it. He however, acknowledged that the varsity is facing several challenges in raising the infrastructure and shifting the academics to the designated campus at Ganderbal, adding the details about the hiccups have been shared with the MHRD and State functionaries. CUK Vice-Chancellor further said that on the directions of the State government, the university administration has been shifted to DIET building Nunar and CMO building at Old district hospital Ganderbal and the Science block from Sonwar would be shifted soon to the designated site at Tulmulla, after the Pre Engineered Buildings (PEBs) are handed over to the university. One such PEB was handed over to the university on Thursday, i.e 27th of July.

He said the University Grants Commission has granted some additional positions including Professors, Associate Professors and Assistant Professors for certain departments, adding the Commission has also granted two more departments in the School of Engineering.

Welcoming the participants, Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, said that due to the guidance and support of the members of the Planning and Monitoring Board, University Building Committee and other Statutory bodies, the varsity is marching ahead on academics and other fronts. Prof. Zargar said the Board is an amalgamation of experts from different specialized fields who have so far contributed immensely for the growth of the Central University of Kashmir.

Immediately after the Planning and Monitoring Board meeting, the 22nd meeting of the UBC was held at the same campus.
