Srinagar, Jan 31: The faculty and the administrative staff of the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) on Tuesday accorded a warm send off to the Controller of Examinations, Dr. Nazir Ahmad Gilkar, on the completion of his term in office.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir, Dean Research and Development, Prof. Muhammad Aslam, Registrar, Prof. Muhammad Afzal Zargar, outgoing Controller of Examination, Dr. Nazir Ahmad Gilkar, Finance Officer, Mr. Bashir Ahmad Haji, Deans of various Schools, Heads of different departments and other functionaries of the varsity were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir described Dr. Gilkar as a man of integrity, discipline and high repute and said that Dr. Gilkar has contributed significantly as the Controller of Examinations and in different capacities while working in the varsity. Prof. Mehraj ud Din said, Dr. Nazir Ahmad Gilkar streamlined and revolutionized the Examinations and Evaluation Wing of the varsity and introduced several steps, bringing in more transparency and credibility in the whole examination system. He said that Dr. Gilkar has always ensured that the results of the students are declared in time and referred to the conduct of examinations after the 2014 devastating floods and subsequent declaration of results.
Prof. Mehraj ud Din also hailed Dr. Gilkar for his work as the In Charge Finance Officer for more than two years, an additional responsibility given to him by the university, after the retirement of the first Finance Officer of the varsity. The Vice-Chancellor said that Dr. Gilkar initiated several important measures to restructure the Finance Section of the university and ensured that the section strictly functions and processes the documents according to the norms and rules laid down by the Government of India.
Dean Research and Development, Prof. Muhammad Aslam, while speaking on the occasion appreciated Dr. Nazir Ahmad Gilkar for making a robust examination system. He said that Dr. Gilkar played a pivotal role in transforming the examinations in the university.
Addressing the gathering, Registrar, Prof. Muhammad Afzal Zargar, termed Dr. Gilkar as a man with a great vision and a huge asset to the academic institution. He said the university had hugely benefited due to the rich experience of Dr. Gilkar, who had earlier served in different capacities in the department of Higher Education, Jammu and Kashmir Government. He said that holding of End Semester Examination workshops by Dr. Gilkar provided a platform to the faculty members to deliberate the issues confronting the conduct of examinations. Prof. Zargar wished Dr. Gilkar a very happy and prosperous post retirement life.
Dr. Nazir Ahmad Gilkar while speaking on the occasion thanked the administrative staff for hosting the farewell function and also thanked them for their support and cooperation during his tenure. He wished the university best and asked them to work with dedication in order to make the varsity a centre par excellence.
