Browsing centre inaugurated at CUK
Srinagar: With the aim to provide high-speed Internet access to the students, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Kashmir, Prof. Mehraj-ud-Din Mir inaugurated browsing centre at the varsity’s Nowgam campus on Tuesday.
The centre is equipped with 60 computers with Internet access and basic Windows applications.
The Vice Chancellor directed the university support staff to ensure proper maintenance of the browsing centre. Prof Mir also urged students to make good use of the facility.
Speaking on the occasion, Registrar, M Afzal Zargar, said: “It has been a long cherished dream for us to start a good state-of-art browsing centre. We hope students will be making maximum use of it.”
He expressed hope that students will also make use of Internet based resources, which have been procured by the university.
“We were disturbed in the sense that the students were not in a position to utilize the e-books and e-journals that we have already procured. Now, I believe that it will be utilized well,” Prof Zargar said.
Among those who attended the inaugural function included Controller of Examinations, Dr Nazir Ahmad Gilkar and Director, Students Welfare Directorate, Dr. Fayaz Ahmad Nika. Besides, class representatives from various departments of the university attended the function.
