CUK holds 17th UBC, discusses campus construction
Srinagar, Aug 13: The 17th University Building Committee (UBC) meeting of the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) was today held at Sonwar administrative campus here with officiating Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din, in chair.
The members present during the meeting included, Prof. A. M Pathan, Ex.Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Karnataka, Prof. M. Afzal Zargar, Registrar, CUK, Dr. N. A. Gilkar I/c Finance Officer, CUK, Mr. Mohammad Amin Nowshehri, Ex. Chief Engineer, R&B, J&K Government, Mr. Munir Ahmad Khan, Ex. Chief Architect, Govt. of J&K, Mr. Mohammad Rafiq, Zonal In-charge NBCC, and Mr. V.C. Misra Architect, M/s C.P. Kukreja, New Delhi.

During his welcome address, officiating Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din, informed the participants about the headway made by the University on academic and other related fronts. He also divulged about the glitches faced by the varsity while executing construction work at the Ganderbal campus.
Prof. Mehraj ud Din stressed upon the executing agency including Project Management Consultancy (PMC) and the concerned architects to work in unison for establishment of the University. He again reiterated that the University was keen to shift the academic activities to its already designated campus.
Registrar, Prof. Muhammad Afzal Zargar said the University was facing operational difficulties as it was functioning from multiple rented campuses. “We want to provide every possible facility to the students and staff, but scattering of the institution, was making things difficult for us,” he said.
Other important issues related to the development of the campus were discussed and several decisions were taken and endorsed to the Finance Committee, during the meeting.
