CUK Registrar inaugurates weeklong winter workshop for supporting staff:


Ganderbal, Dec 30: The winter workshop for the Supporting Staff of the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) organised by the Centre for Capacity Development of Administrative Staff (CCDAS) began at Green Campus of the varsity here on Monday.

Inaugurating the weeklong workshop, Registrar, Prof. Fayaz A Nikka said the main aim and objective of holding such a workshop was to further enhance and upgrade the capabilities and capacities of the administrative staff. “The basic purpose of training is to uncover the hidden talent of the staff members and then subsequently harness it to the fullest,” he said and described such training exercises as an integral part of the administrative reforms. Prof. Nikka asked the employees to make their self-appraisal every day. “You should identify your strengths and weakness and work on them accordingly,” he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Controller of Examinations, Prof. Parveen Pandit said, such workshops provide a platform to the employees to interact with each other, to share their work experiences and the problems they confront while dealing with the stakeholders, especially students. “Through these workshops, the staff members get well acquainted with the rules, regulations, procedures and other administrative functionalities,” Prof. Pandit said. She said the participants, during their interactions, with the experts, should extract maximum information from them and gain knowledge.

Consultant (IA) Mr. Abdul Majeed Rather, while addressing the participants described trainings as a continuous process to hone the skills of the administrative staff. He asked the staff members to remain abreast with latest advancements in the field of technology so that the same can be properly utilized for streamlining the functioning of the varsity.

 

Deputy Registrar, Dr. Javid Ahmad Wani, described the supporting staff as an integral component of the university administration and said the purpose of conducting such an exercise is to improve the level of knowledge of the staff members vis-à-vis administrative functioning. He said that such workshops augment the skills of the employees in discharging their duties with more proficiency.
