CUK’s Biotech deptt holds webinar on ‘How to Establish a Sustainable Entrepreneurship Ecosystem In Institutions of Higher Learning’:


 Ganderbal, June 24: The Department of Biotechnology, Central University of Kashmir (CUK), Wednesday organized a national webinar on “Establishing A Sustainable Entrepreneurship Ecosystem In Institutions Of Higher Learning” at its Green Campus here with Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir in chair.

The webinar was also attended by Prof. M. Afzal Zargar, Dean, School of Life Sciences, Prof. Farooq A. Shah, Dean, School of Business Studies, Dr. Abid Hamid Dar, Head, Department of Biotechnology, Dr. Ibraq Khurshid, Coordinator, Department of Zoology, Dr. Insha from School of Business Studies, Dr. Shabir H. Qureshi, Dr. Nissar Ahmad Wani and Dr. Muzafar Ahmad Macha from the Department of Biotechnology.

Inaugurating the event, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir, lauded the Biotechnology Department for always organizing innovative lectures having far-reaching implications to all the participants and the varsity. Moreover, he said the University has fully recognized the importance of entrepreneurship and skill development and the recently held Academic and Executive Councils approved the proposal submitted by the Department of Biotechnology in this regard. He emphasized the interdepartmental and interdisciplinary linkages within and between the universities for promoting the innovative developments in the teaching-learning process, research, and skill enhancement pertaining to the COVID-19.

Head, Department of Biotechnology and Organizing Secretary, Dr. Abid Hamid Dar, in his speech, introduced the speaker, Prof. Pawan K. Dhar, Dean School of Biotechnology, JNU, New Delhi and thanked the Vice-Chancellor, for the motivation and encouragement for all the initiatives. He highlighted the need of developing entrepreneurship niche across the diverse Departments for societal outreach.

Dean, School of Life Sciences, Prof. M Afzal Zargar also thanked the Vice-Chancellor for reposing trust and also thanked the speaker for accepting the request. The Dean informed the gathering that more than 500 participants are attending the webinar all across the globe.

Prof. Pawan K Dhar while delivering his lecture underscored the importance of Entrepreneurship Development for the successful progression of institutional pass outs. He detailed out various contours of the topic and elaborated on how the Department of Biotechnology and other Departments could get enriched through the present process for achieving larger goals. He also emphasized the need of developing the entrepreneurship Institutions for growth, employment and self-sustenance of academics and research. He offered his collaboration with the CUK to kick-start the process with focused approach.
