Renowned nuclear scientist Srikumar Banerjee has been appointed as the first chancellor of the Central University of Kashmir. Recognised widely as an expert on material science and technology, Banerjee was among the scientists who worked on the 1974 as well as the 1998 Indian nuclear tests.
